How to Install a Solar Shower in Your Garden

  • By Kate Williams

It’s no secret that outdoor shower columns are all the rage at the moment, and they are no longer just for the ultra-wealthy. They are now easily accessible for everyone and there are plenty of choices available. One of the more popular choices at the moment is outdoor solar showers.

If you’re interested in adding a solar shower in your garden to enhance the appeal of your space, there are a few key things you should know about installation. Straight off the bat, you have two choices; you can get a DIY expert to assist, or you can install the solar shower yourself.

If you are heading down the path of installing the outdoor solar shower yourself, then here’s the guide you have to follow:

Step 1: The Right Location

Location is everything when it comes to an outdoor solar shower. It’s important to install the solar shower in a place in your garden that provides enough privacy and is less likely to get damaged from whatever the elements will throw at it.

As we are talking about a solar shower, you will also need to install it in a sunny place, so you can continue to have nice warm showers all year round. Striking a balance between privacy and accessibility can be difficult, but remember you can add things like privacy screens at a later point.

Step 2: Assemble the Solar Shower

You need to ensure you have all the necessary equipment for installation like mounting equipment, plumbing tape, drills, wrenches, screwdrivers, etc. Once you’ve gathered all the equipment, the first job is to attach the solar panel, making sure it is a sunny place.

You need to organize the plumbing for the solar shower. Where is the water supply going to come from? Then, you need to position the solar shower column exactly where you want it and fix it to the ground or any other solid area. This needs to be close enough to the water supply and solar panel.

Step 3: Test the Shower

Sometimes things can go wrong, so before you think your job is done, test everything to make sure it is working as it should. It is important to check for leaks and that all connections are properly secure.

If you notice any issues, turn off the water supply and take a closer look at why the issue may be occurring. Everything must be set up properly as this will limit the amount of long-term damage to the solar shower itself.

Step 4: Boost Privacy and Comfort

The hard part is over, now it’s time to improve the usability of the space! There are a few touches you can make to ensure the space is as functional and comfortable as possible. A privacy screen is a big factor here, and privacy can also be created with big plants as well.

Storage solutions are another good aspect to consider, so you can have things like towels and soap around the solar shower that are easily accessible. You might also want to consider a non-slip mat to ensure safety when showering by limiting the chances of a slip.
