Solar Showers vs. Traditional Showers: Which One Is Best?

  • By Kate Williams

These days, you have so many different options when it comes to your shower, which also can include designer outdoor showers! With so many options available, many people are asking the question - which one is best for me? One type of shower that is rising in popularity at the moment - solar showers.

Solar showers are becoming more popular because people want to ensure they are as eco-friendly as possible. If you’re considering a solar shower or even a traditional shower, it can be a tough decision, so read on below to discover all the key elements of each type to determine which one is best for you:

Solar Showers

Solar showers are a newer technology that harness the power of the sun and present a more eco-friendly alternative to the traditional showers. The energy provided by the sun means that you are still able to have nice warm showers all year round, without needing to rely on gas or electricity.

We strive to design and manufacture products that are not only good for you and your family but for the planet. This is Solaris, an outdoor solar shower with a massive water tank and a powerful system.

This clearly has a minimal environmental impact, but it is also better for your hip pocket as you are saving money by not using as much gas or electricity. The sun is a renewable source of energy, so it also means you are less reliant on fossil fuels and can reduce your carbon footprint because you aren’t using the more traditional heating methods.

Although, you need to be aware of the limitations with this type of shower. Due to the fact that it is dependent on sunlight, it means it may not be suitable when there are cloudy days or during the night. If you live in an area that is sunny majority of the time, this could negate this problem though!

Traditional Showers

As the name suggests, traditional showers have been the norm in households worldwide for a very long time now. It is powered by electricity or gas and provides consistent water temperature along with reliable pressure. You know what you are going to get with traditional showers. Hot water is instantly available, which provides another layer of convenience to households.

Traditional showers can be more costly though, because you are using gas or electricity to power the shower, this all adds up on your power bill. As well as this, it is obviously not as eco-friendly, so if that’s an important consideration for you, a traditional shower may not be the way to go. Your carbon footprint is going to be considerably higher using traditional showers compared to solar showers.

Wrap Up

At the end of the day, it’s up to you to decide where your priorities are. It’s important to note that it’s not an either / or option anymore! Many people are opting for a hybrid approach. This approach incorporates both systems into the home, which allows you to get the benefits of both. Meaning you could have traditional showers in the months where there isn’t as much sunlight, and switch to solar showers in the warmer months, when the days are longer.
